Ulster got back to winning ways on Friday night in the GUINNESS PRO12 with a resounding 30-0 victory over third bottom Edinburgh at the Kingspan Stadium.
Two unanswered Paddy Jackson penalties either side of a well-finished Andrew Trimble try gave the hosts a comfortable 13-0 lead at the interval, with Edinburgh struggling to make possession count in the Ulster half.
And it was more of the same in the second period after Mike Coman saw yellow and Nick Williams, Rory Best, and then Trimble went over for his second score of the evening, Ulster securing the bonus point and the shut out.
Ulster began the brighter, retaining early possession well and firing high kicks at Greig Tonks looking for errors.
Louis Ludik should have opened the scoring on 10 minutes, knocking on from five metres out with the line at his mercy after a steady move from the hosts.
However Ulster's persistence paid off as Edinburgh were penalised for coming in at the side, and Jackson effortlessly struck the ball through the uprights after 13 minutes.
Jack Cuthbert missed from 40 metres for the visitors, before Jackson returned the favour and pushed his penalty attempt right of the target.
But Ulster took the initiative as Trimble crashed over for his 41st career
league try on 25 minutes, Tim Visser missing his tackle after a superb offload from Stuart McCloskey.
Jackson landed the conversion this time and after a brief blood reversal he returned to the field to slot another kick home from the 25 to make it 13-0 at the interval.
Ulster started the second-half in much the same style, doing well in the scrum and applying pressure deep in Edinburgh territory, but great defence from the visitors kept the home side at bay.
Having come back to force a draw with Scarlets last week, Edinburgh would have fancied themselves to salvage something from the game and got a bit of momentum on 50 minutes after Ulster slipped off a couple of tackles.
Edinburgh won a five-metre scrum but Sean Kennedy blew their best scoring chance of the evening with a wonky feed into the tunnel.
But when Coman was sent to sin bin Edinburgh's task seemed impossible, and Williams soon barrelled his way over from two yards out for Ulster's second try.
Best was next to score and put Ulster out of sight in the corner following a powerful driving maul on the Edinburgh five metre line, with the visitors still down to 14. Replacement Stuart Olding converted this time off the upright.
Trimble then completed the rout and secured the bonus point with his second try of the evening, finishing a well worked try on the right as Visser was exposed again following an Ulster scrum.
