Tries from Phil Burleigh and John Andress sent Edinburgh to the top of the GUINNESS PRO12 table with a 20-9 win over Ospreys at BT Murrayfield.
The Scottish side have now won three from three in the league and this was a victory that owed much to their forward pack that dominated a scrappy encounter.
The Ospreys, last season's GUINNESS PRO12 play-off semi-finalists, are still without a win this season, indeed they are still searching for their first try as they only had three Sam Davies penalties to show for their efforts.
Yellow cards for Nicky Smith and Olly Cracknell proved decisive as ill-discipline from Ospreys allowed Edinburgh to cross for a try in each half.
The Welsh region have only won once in Scotland since September 2009, while the hosts have won the last six encounters between these sides.
But it was the visitors who started brighter, winning an early breakdown penalty wide on the left.
Davies' effort came back off the post but Edinburgh made a mess of clearing their lines and an accidental offside gave Ospreys a second penalty from right in front and the fly-half made no mistake for a 3-0 lead.
Alan Solomons' side were struggling to gain any territory and while Davies missed with a long-range penalty for the Welsh side he soon made amends when Roddy Grant was caught on the wrong side and the Ospreys were six points in front.
After hardly threatening for the first half an hour the Scottish pack finally got into the game and a succession of mauls close to the line saw Smith sent to the sin bin for the Welsh region.
Grant then thought he had the game's first try at the back of another maul but the TMO could not find a clear angle and still the Welsh side held on.
The Scottish scrum won a catalogue of penalties as the interval approached and a penalty score must have been close before eventually Burleigh went over in the right corner.
Greig Tonks added the extras and the Scottish side thought they would take a one-point lead into the break until a third Davies penalty from wide on the right sent the Welsh side back in front at 9-7.
After the break Edinburgh soon re-claimed the lead with Tonks' first penalty of the match and effectively set up shop in the Ospreys half.
But they failed to make a breakthrough until Ospreys replacement Cracknell saw yellow for a dangerous tackle and Tonks slotted the penalty for a 13-9 lead.
Despite their man advantage the men from the Scottish capital could not break through some stout Ospreys defending, Grant and Chris Dean making a mess of a simple chance with the try line gaping.
But eventually the pressure told and there was no surprise to see the pack doing the damage as Andress barged over by the posts.
Tonks' conversion made it 20-9 to leave the Ospreys staring down the barrel of a third successive loss in the league while the Scottish side move to the top of the table.
