A late try by debutant Simone Favaro secured Glasgow Warriors a bonus point and a third consecutive GUINNESS PRO12 win as they saw off Newport Gwent Dragons 29-15.
After doing the double over their Welsh opponents last term, it was the Dragons who scored the first try of the game as Rynard Landman touched down and Jason Tovey converted to cancel out Rory Clegg's earlier penalty at Scotstoun.
Clegg converted a Chris Fusaro try to put the hosts back in front, only for a Tovey penalty on the stroke of half-time to level the scores.
The second half threatened to run away from the Dragons as Zander Fagerson and Junior Bulumakau went over, but Ashton Hewitt's try gave them hope.
However that hope was extinguished with a minute left as Favaro went over to wrap up the win and secure Glasgow Warriors a bonus point in the process.
After a good start by the visitors, Glasgow Warriors began to grow into the game with Taqele Naiyaravoro particular prominent.
And it was one of the Australia wing's strong runs that helped the hosts get on the scoreboard after 15 minutes as he drove the Dragons back before they were pinged for a side entry, allowing Clegg to fire a penalty through the uprights.
Adam Warren had to be strong in the tackle to stop Naiyaravoro from breaking down the right flank again shortly after andthe Dragons had a chance to level proceedings after Glasgow were pinged for holding on, but Tovey sent his penalty wide for his first miss of this GUINNESS PRO12 campaign.
But five minutes later Newport were in front as a Tovey kick put the visitors in good position to allow Sarel Pretorius the opportunity to offload to Landman who crashed over, with Tovey adding the extras.
Almost immediately Clegg had the chance to bring his side to within one point of the visitors, but he missed a relatively easy penalty attempt.
But it was that man Naiyaravoro who got Glasgow back in front as another strong burst saw the home side camped by the Dragons' tryline, and as the visitors tried to drive a maul to touch Fusaro peeled off the back to dot down on 37 minutes, Clegg converting.
Glasgow danger man Naiyaravoro was then shown a yellow card for taking wing Aled Brew out in the air and with the final kick of the half Tovey levelled the game at 10-10.
Neither side were willing to give an inch after the restart but 15 minutes into the second half Glasgow Warriors pulled away again as Mike Blair sent prop Fagerson over, Clegg adding the extras.
But ten minutes later debutant Favaro was shown a yellow card and Newport Gwent Dragons smelt blood, only for Nic Cudd to spill the ball on the line.
And Cudd was made to rue that miss as with ten minutes left a kick over the top by Blair bounced kindly for Bulumakau who hacked on and won the race to score, although Clegg was wide with his conversion attempt.
But the Dragons refused to lie down and after a strong carry from Rhys Buckley a Tovey pass saw Hewitt dot down on 72 minutes to bring the visitors to within a converted try of their hosts.
But with a minute left Favaro made amends for his sin binning by touching down after a strong forwards drive to wrap up the win and secure the hosts a bonus point, with Clegg adding the extras.
