Cardiff Blues can confirm Sam Warburton will today undergo surgery on a fractured cheekbone.
The Wales captain suffered the injury in a clash of heads with Josh van der Flier during the 13th minute of Saturday's 16-13 Guinness PRO12 defeat to Leinster.
Following scans and maxillofacial specialist opinion Warburton will have a small plate inserted in his cheekbone. It is estimated he will be out of action for approximately two to four weeks.
