The 29-year-old pulled on the blue of Scotland this year when he was the stand-out performer of the Scotland 7s team at the IRB Sevens World Series events in Hong Kong and Adelaide.
Having whetted his appetite for international sevens, O'Hare is looking forward to the final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series when it comes to Scotland for the Emirates Airline Edinburgh 7s Festival at Murrayfield on 30 and 31 May.
"It was a dream of mine to play for Scotland ever since I became eligible," he said, "I enjoyed every second of my time in both Hong Kong and Adelaide.
"The Edinburgh event will be an awesome experience for whoever makes the squad and it will be fantastic for the supporters as well. Rugby sevens is a real spectacle of attacking rugby.
"Scotland have been drawn against three very tough sides in their pool - England, Kenya and Canada. It's exciting for both players and fans to see Scotland against England at Murrayfield, and sevens will give a whole new dimension to such a fierce rivalry."
O'Hare joined the Warriors in September 2005 as a convert back to Rugby Union after a sojourn with Huddersfield Giants in the Super League, where he had the reputation of searing pace.
With one eye on next season, O'Hare believes that the Warriors are very much on the up and is hoping the squad can match last year's highest ever finish in the Magners League to give them a spring board into the future.
"I'm delighted to have extended my contract. We've got two massive games left, starting away to the Ospreys this weekend before bringing the curtain down on our season in front of a home crowd against Connacht. The club is shaping up very nicely for the coming years with the new training base at Scotstoun and even more world class players like Chris Cusiter joining us over the summer. It's a very exciting time to be involved with Glasgow Warriors."
Warriors head coach Sean Lineen added: "Hefin epitomises the spirit of the Warriors and has a heart as big as a lion.
"He's still learning the game but has tonnes of enthusiasm. He brings a real energy to training and I know the best of Hefin O'Hare is yet to come."
