The initial prognosis was that Priestland was to be out for six months but after passing all the required fitness tests over the past few weeks the No.10 is confident his return to action could be quicker.
This is great news for the Scarlets who find themselves just outside the RaboDirect PRO12 play-off places on points difference to Welsh rivals Ospreys.
"It's out of my hands really," said Priestland. "I've passed all the tests with the physios, so it's whenever the coaches pick me really, it could be (before the end of the season).
"It's been good, obviously I'd never wish to rupture my Achilles again, but it's been nice to have a rest and have the rest of my body feeling good as well. All in all I'm feeling pretty good and I want to get back to playing rugby and enjoying it.
"I just want to come back and feel good with the way I play and I'd love to get into the play-offs with the Scarlets because as a group we've been close the last couple of years and not quite got there, I think this year we have the potential to get there and I want to be a part of it."
