Hogg played seven PRO12 games last season, scoring three tries, and he claims it wasn't his best return in a Warriors shirt.
But the 22-year-old has been selected for Scotland Sevens which will compete on home soil in Glasgow later this month.
And Hogg, who was selected in place of the injured Tommy Seymour, says it could be the perfect preparation for the upcoming GUINNESS PRO12 campaign.
"Johnno (Scott Johnson) had a wee chat with me on the last week on tour as Tommy was struggling with his neck and he asked me if I wanted to play," Hogg told the Scotsman.
"I bit his hand off when I got the chance. I wanted to play. I'd hardly played any rugby since the RBS 6 Nations and this was a chance to put on another Scotland jersey.
"It's my first experience of sevens and I'm proud of that. It will be tough, but I've learned a lot and I have the right players and coaching staff to help me around.
"I've not had a great season performance-wise. I had form only for a month or two, so it's been a difficult season. This is a chance to end it on a high - it's a positive, exciting thing for me at the end of the season."
