Despite being just 21, Robinson has made three appearances for his country, although the last came over a year ago on the summer tour to Japan in 2013.
And the diminutive Robinson, who stands at just 5'9, believes his move away from the Cardiff Blues for the new GUINNESS PRO12 season will allow him to play in a more attacking style.
"It's been a funny couple of years for me," Robinson told the South Wales Evening Post.
"I felt as if I finished the season before last pretty strongly and out in Japan with Wales. I felt I held my own but I have not managed to kick on at the Blues for whatever reason.
"I have always grown up watching the Scarlets and they play free-flowing expansive rugby, the type of rugby I want to play, so when the opportunity came up I grabbed it with both hands."
With the likes of George North and Alex Cuthbert the clear starters on the wing for Wales when fit, Robinson faces a tough task to break into the national team.
But with Ospreys' Matthew Morgan making his international debut in South Africa this summer, Robinson knows an opportunity may come up for him if he performs well for his new side.
"You just have to concentrate on the little steps before looking too far in the future," he added.
"Every wing here is going to see an open door and stake a claim for a regular position.
"But you just have to look at the example of Jordan Williams and Matthew Morgan in South Africa to see what is possible.
"I don't think size is a big factor. As long as you do what you can well I don't think it's a massive hurdle."
