Following on from the success of the region's home kit launch, held on Friday 15th August, Scarlets have today released an image of the colourful alternative Kooga Rugby jersey that will be seen in some 2014-15 Guinness PRO12, European Rugby Champions Cup and LV= Cup.
2014-15 marks a 130 years association of the name 'Scarlets' with rugby in Llanelli and West Wales and it is to the history books that the region turned to for inspiration for this season's alternative kit.
The club's choice of kit colours for season 1881-82 were rose and primrose after a season in muted black and today, Monday 25th August, has seen Scarlets captain Ken Owens, vice-captain Scott Williams and fellow Scarlets Gareth Maule, Jordan Williams and newcomer Harry Robinson lace their Twitter feeds with clues to the alternative kit's colours.
Scarlets General Manager Jon Daniels said: "We are really excited about the arrival of the alternative jersey.
"As we celebrate 130 years of the colour Scarlet in Llanelli and West Wales it seemed an obvious choice to take inspiration from the club's history. The alternative kit, which is bright and colourful, has been inspired by the rose and primrose worn by the club in the early years.
"The traditional Scarlet colour remains an integral part of the design and we really hope that our supporters will wear it with pride."
Scarlets winger Jordan Williams said: "It was great to be a part of the launch today and hopefully it was a little bit of light-hearted fun for people whilst they were sat at home on a wet and miserable Bank Holiday!
"We're all looking forward to running out on a few occasions in the alternative kit. It's very different to what we've had over the last few years and I think it's a great change!"
Scarlets' alternative jersey is due in store on Monday 29th September. The traditional Scarlets home jersey is available in store now priced at £45.
