Scores from Angelo Esposito, Marco Barbini and a last-minute penalty try condemned the Welsh region to a 23-20 loss - the second in a row for Steve Tandy's men who lost to Northampton Saints a week earlier.
Despite the defeat, Ospreys are in a strong position in the GUINNESS PRO12 and have ten wins from their 13 fixtures.
That has left them top of the pile with a slender one-point advantage over Glasgow Warriors, with PRO12 action set to resume on February 13.
It's a weekend that will see Ospreys travel north to take on Edinburgh Rugby and Gibbes wants to see a repeat of the performance that resulted in the Swansea outfit scoring 62 points in the reverse fixture back in September.
"We've got some important games to look forward to in the PRO12 now and this group has to bounce back and show real character," he said.
"The positive thing is that this young group will learn from these mistakes. They'll get another chance to take us forward.
"Our work at the breakdown was poor; we got pushed off the ball. We didn't look after the ball, respect possession, and those are the fundamentals of rugby.
"Scrum-wise as well, we got pumped, and it's really disappointing. We lacked physicality in certain areas and that's not the Ospreys way. It's pretty poor.
"You get it right or you get burned, and we got burned."
