Yet just minutes after coming on against New Zealand for his second cap, the prop suffered a serious pectoral injury, only making his first start since his return during last weekend's 31-23 Judgment Day triumph over Cardiff Blues.
And with a GUINNESS PRO12 semi-final spot already secure, Smith is confident his side can keep their run going all the way to claiming the trophy.
"I can't emphasise how crazy this season has been," Smith told Wales Online. "I had the injury but it has still been an incredible season.
"It started on a high with getting game-time with the Ospreys and I surprised myself because I had only just signed my first professional contract.
"To play for the first seven league games was a fantastic experience and to have the Wales call-up was unbelievable.
"[The injury] was a tough period with a lot of speed bumps along the way.
"I just want to finish well with the Ospreys and win silverware.
"We have to play every match as if they are our last because they are do-or-die.
"Firstly, we want to concentrate on getting a home semi-final. We host Glasgow, which is a massive game and head to Connacht which is not an easy place to go."
