A bonus-point score evaded them but the Scarlets remained third in the GUINNESS PRO12 table with the win and Pivac was in no mood to dwell on the negatives.
"It's definitely four points gained as opposed to one lost," he said. "We talked about shortening our game up and being more direct. We turned too much ball over but all in all we're reasonably happy.
"The boys were going really hard for the fourth try. It was certainly an aim to try and get the five.
"You have to readjust during games and we had to make changes at different stages during the game with a lot of experience coming off and a lot of young guys coming on.
"To get the lead back, secure the win and to go out over the seven points was a pretty good effort."
With the GUINNESS PRO12 entering a mini-hiatus after this weekend, Scarlets' next league match is a trip to the Liberty Stadium to face the Ospreys on March 26.
And they enter the end-of-season run-in in good shape, well inside the top four and on course to feature in the play-offs.
Pivac added: "With 53 points we're probably close to what we got last year. We're pleased with where we're at.
"We talked long and hard about this game from where we want to be at end of the season.
"We've done a lot of hard work in this block against some very hard sides in Edinburgh, Ulster and Connacht. We felt that if we could get across the line in this one it would be the icing on the cake
"The boys have earned a rest next week, then we'll come back and reassess where we go from there."
