Tom Willis joined Newport Gwent Dragons in the summer of 2008 and went on to play in all 18 Magners League games during his first season at Rodney Parade.
Tom was named the region’s captain for the current campaign following plenty of leadership experience in his native New Zealand.
He led Waikato to the National Provincial Championship in 2006, before taking them to Ranfurly Shield glory against North Harbour a year later.
Tom has also captained New Zealand in games against Ireland A and Scotland A, making his promotion to Dragons skipper an unsurprising decision.
A qualified lawyer, Tom won five caps for the All Blacks in 2002.
Tom featured in international matches against Fiji, South Africa (twice) and Australia after making his All Black debut in the win over Italy in Hamilton.
He made more than 60 appearances in Super 14 rugby, playing for the Highlanders between 2000 and 2003 and the Chiefs from 2004 to 2007.
