Ulster have lost just one home game in the last 11 months while Munster have only won away at Ravenhill once since 2007 - this coming with a 16-6 victory in October 2010.
However Sheridan is once again in the No.9 shirt after doing the same in Munster's 18-17 victory in Perpignan last month.
And he is adamant that Munster can once again come away with the spoils after proving what they are capable of in France.
"I think it definitely gives you more confidence, you just have that bit of belief in yourself that if you go to a place like Perpignan and deal with what they have to throw at you," he said.
"But, at the same time, you can't be looking back to last week. You have to think this is a different team, different set-up, different week, so you have to prepare as if you didn't do anything last week and you are not going to be doing anything next week. You have to be ready for this week coming.
"You always know what to expect when you go up to Ulster. Any of the senior lads who have been there year in and year out will tell you. You are never going to get an easy game up there.
"I know it is a cliché, but it's the fact of the matter. It could be in the Heineken Cup or the Rabo, but at the end of the day it is an inter-pro game between Munster and Ulster and they are always something to be savoured."
Sheridan is one of 12 changes to the Munster side that beat Connacht last time out, with Donncha O'Callaghan, James Coughlan and Ronan O'Mahony the only survivors.
Captain Peter O'Mahony and Paul O'Connell both start while Damien Varley returns from his bout of illness to start in the front row with Dave Kilcoyne and Stephen Archer.
Tommy O'Donnell joins O'Connell and O'Mahony in returning to the pack while Ian Keatley starts at fly-half.
The backline sees Felix Jones at full-back with Andrew Conway, Ivan Dineen and Casey Laualala joining Ronan O'Mahony.
Ulster's five game winning run in all competitions ended last time out as they fell 19-6 to Leinster.
And Mark Anscombe has made six changes in a bid to return to winning ways, Chris Henry and Iain Henderson recovering from injury to be named in the Ulster starting XV
Ruan Pienaar starts at scrum-half, Jared Payne is selected at full-back, Tom Court is named at loosehead and John Afoa returns at tighthead.
RaboDirect PRO12 Players' Player of the Year Nick Williams has recovered from the calf injury that he picked up in November and is named as a substitute.
"Our next three weekends are going to be as tough and physical as rugby gets," Anscombe told the Belfast Telegraph.
"We've got to embrace that, and, of those three big ones, two of them (Munster and Montpellier) are at home and that's where we want to be.
"Our destiny is in our hands and if we can get a win at the weekend over Munster that gives us momentum to take to Europe. If we can get all three wins we'll be sitting nicely.
"We've got to make sure that we're up for it physically against Munster, because if you let them physically dominate you, you're gone. If playing Munster doesn't get us excited, well nothing will. They're the league leaders and they're going well."
