The Italians, who did not register a win in their first RaboDirect PRO12 season last year, are unbeaten in three at home.
That streak included wins over Cardiff Blues and Edinburgh - and Zebre will now be looking to spoil Ospreys' playoff charge.
But Gibbes has warned his side not to fly out of the blocks, insisting patience will be required in Parma to secure a crucial bonus-point win.
"We have a good discussion about this as a team and it's a tough place to go and play," Gibbes told the BBC.
"If you watch teams that have played too much and too quickly against them they have come unstuck or made a long day of it.
"First and foremost what we have got to do is just make sure we are accurate and if we are accurate we believe we are good enough to get out of this game what we need.
"We can't take them lightly. It's a massive game for us."
