A gutting last-minute defeat to Zebre last week all but ensured Ulster fourth spot at the expense of Ospreys, who have been crowned RaboDirect PRO12 champions four times.
But Jones, who signed a two-year contract extension in January, is adamant the Welsh region are building something special again.
"I made my intention clear by re-signing for the Ospreys," said Jones.
"There's a lot of hard work being done to build stable foundations for this organisation and allow it to flourish on and off the field in the coming seasons.
"I believe in what we are doing for the long-term good of the Ospreys.
"That is why I stayed. I want the region to achieve its aims."
