Chris Towers, Medical Performance Manager at the region, provided a timely update on a number of players, providing good news for Steve Tandy and his coaching team.
James King:
"James had surgery on his ankle nine weeks ago and is back running. He will be integrated with the squad over the next two to three weeks in order to be available for the start of the PRO12 season."
Justin Tipuric:
"He is progressing nicely following shoulder surgery. The key for him now is a good period of physical preparation to allow him to hit his key targets over the next eight weeks ahead of his return to playing."
Lloyd Peers:
"Lloyd has been integrated back into team rugby sessions following his recovery from a shoulder injury and will be available for the pre-season games next month."
Eli Walker, Dmitri Arhip and Rhys Webb:
"All three of these started pre-season with the rest of the squad and are now fully integrated into the group, taking a full part in training."
Ashley Beck:
"Ashley is eight weeks post-op following surgery to repair a recurring hip problem. The original prediction was for a six month recovery period and he is where we would expect him to be at this stage."
Tom Smith:
"Tom is still in an intensive rehab programme and is making good progress. He still has a lot of work ahead before we are able to predict a return to play date for him, so more news will follow as and when."
