After finishing fourth in 2012 and third in 2013, the Warriors maintained their upward trajectory last season, ending the regular season in second and securing their first ever final in the competition.
Leinster - their semi-final conquerors in each of the previous two years - once again got the better of Glasgow, winning 34-12 at the RDS for their fourth PRO12 crown.
However, Kellock insists the pattern will not reach a triumphant conclusion unless Gregor Townsend's men once again step up a level this time around.
"You have got to be better than you were the year before and that's been true every year we have made a semi-final and then tried to do it again the next year," he said at the GUINNESS PRO12 launch.
"Every team will improve, the young guys will get more experienced and the guys will recruit over the summer. We will have to be better to get to the final.
"It is very tough to lose a final and everything we had gone through that season was a way of getting us to that game and winning that game.
"It is hard losing it but then we managed to step back as a team and look at what we achieved last season on the park, but also the way the club has grown off the park as well."
And as well as keeping an eye on the usual suspects at the top of the table - namely Leinster, Ulster, Muster and Ospreys - Kellock is wary of the Warriors' fiercest rivals in the competition.
While Glasgow were flying high last season, Edinburgh finished outside the top seven for the fourth year on the bounce.
But that is not to say they won't be a threat when a pair of quickfire 1872 Cup clashes come around during a busy festive period.
"I expect Edinburgh will be better," added the Warriors skipper. "At times last year I thought they were outstanding in certain games, so it is consistency and that comes with being together for a year.
"But we can't look too far ahead. We have got to make sure we are a better team than we were last year and when the December games come around we will see where we're at."
