The Connacht full-back signed a one year contract at the Sportsground at the start of the season which is due to expire in May.
But the Kiwi - who has racked up 100 caps for the All Blacks - says another year in Pat Lam's ranks isn't out of the question.
And with Connacht showing solid form in the GUINNESS PRO12 this season - winning seven of their 13 matches - Muliaina says he is loving life at the province.
"I think the guys have been really good. I'm enjoying the environment. There is some real belief in Connacht and you know, that's what happens when you win," he told the Irish Examiner.
"When you implement things in the game that you've practised all week it's nice when it comes off.
"And the belief that you see in the guys, particularly the young guys, you enjoy a little bit more because you know you are a part of it. I'm loving being in Galway and being around this group.
"There is a little bit of talk (of a new contract), but at the moment I just want to concentrate on finishing well.
"I'm not looking too far ahead, there is a little bit of talk about contract extension. Certainly, it has been a real eye opener. It wasn't what I expected and I'm really enjoying it. Who knows, we'll see what happens."
