The 23-year-old has made 13 GUINNESS PRO12 appearances this season, though ten have come from the bench with Rhys Priestland in blistering form.
Tomorrow's clash with Gloucester has given Shingler an opportunity to show what he's made of in his preferred role with Bath-bound Priestland away on international duty.
But having toiled away for two years, Shingler is content to bide his time and fill any role asked of him.
"It's difficult, you're never going say 'I don't want to play full-back I'd rather play fly-half'," Shingler told the Scarlets website.
"I work for the Scarlets. If they say I'm in the second row this week I'd step up and put my boots on.
"I'm never going to turn down the opportunity to play for the Scarlets.
"Every opportunity I'm grateful for, it'll be in my hands if I do get an opportunity [at fly-half] to lay a statement down for the coaches that I can do a job next year maybe."
