After Dragons led 8-0 early on, the visitors hit back through Ben Teo's double and a sublime Jimmy Gopperth effort to lead 22-8 shortly after the interval.
Yet the hosts surged back with 17 unanswered points thanks to Jack Dixon's score and Benjamin's late exploits, securing a 25-22 win to back up a shock 16-14 victory at the RDS Arena in round 14.
Leinster now trail fourth-placed Ospreys by eight points after the Welsh region's late onslaught clinched a crucial bonus point in victory over a stubborn Benetton Treviso at Stadio Mongio.
The visitors led 11-3 at the break through Eli Walker's try, only for Treviso to respond with Simone Ragusi's effort and a Jayden Hayward penalty, with Ospreys on the ropes late on.
But Dan Evans, Justin Tipuric and Rhys Webb - breaking Ospreys' individual season try-scoring record - all crossed over in the final 15 minutes to carry their side to a 33-13 win.
Also on Friday night, Glasgow Warriors strengthened their grip on top spot in the GUINNESS PRO12 as Peter Horne's sublime first-half hat-trick inspired his side to a 36-17 bonus-point victory over Cardiff Blues at Scotstoun.
After Dougie Hall's try set Glasgow on their way, Horne twice combined expertly with winger Tommy Seymour to cross over before adding a third and securing the bonus point before the break.
Adam Ashe extended the hosts' lead with a breakaway effort before the Blues finished strongly with tries for Gareth Davies and Dan Fish but it was too little too late.
Munster ensured that the Warriors will be pushed all the way during the season run-in after Anthony Foley's side used the rolling maul to devastating effect in a 34-3 triumph over Edinburgh at BT Murrayfield.
The hosts took an early 3-0 lead before Munster hit back through Ian Keatley's penalty and Duncan Casey's converted try from the back of a maul made it 10-3 at the break.
And after the visitors surged ahead thanks to tries from CJ Stander and Conor Murray both gained through the maul, Simon Zebo and Keith Earls also crossed over to ensure a vital bonus point.
That victory saw Munster moved up to second on points difference ahead of rivals Ulster, who held on to secure a 27-20 win over Connacht in a thrilling derby clash at the Sportsground.
The visitors raced into a 17-0 lead by the interval with tries from Louis Ludik, Tommy Bowe and Craig Gilroy, only for Pat Lam's side to hit back soon after the restart through Matt Healy's superb effort.
Bowe's second ensured the bonus point and Rory Best's score ultimately proved vital but Ulster were forced to hold on in the final stages as Connacht set up a frenetic climax through Tiernan O'Halloran's try.
And in a similarly dramatic finish, Rhys Priestland's last-gasp penalty saw Scarlets snatch a 28-26 triumph over Zebre at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi to close the gap on Connacht in the race for a top-six finish.
Scarlets centre Scott Williams crossed over before George Biagi's try for the hosts ensured the scores were level at 13-13 at the break, before further tries from Williams, James Davies and Quintin Geldenhuys kept the game in the balance.
Gonzalo Garcia then put Zebre 26-25 ahead with a penalty in 77th minute only for Priestland to land his late second attempt to claim the win, having missed from a similar spot only moments before.
TRY OF THE WEEKEND
It may have ultimately proved in vain, but Leinster fly-half Jimmy Gopperth lit up Rodney Parade with a sublime solo effort as the visitors looked to build an imposing lead.
Having spotted only forwards in front of him, Gopperth threw a slight dummy before cutting through the gap and handing off two covering defenders to touch down and then convert his own effort.
BREAK OF THE WEEKEND
Having given Ulster a stark warning of his lethal pace just moments earlier, Matt Healy was not to be denied at the second time of asking as he burst through to get Connacht back into contention.
The winger cut back inside from the left, brushing off Chris Henry's attempted tackle with ease, before bursting clear of the remaining defenders to dive over.
PLAY OF THE WEEKEND
While Peter Horne's first try was superb, the second was even better as the centre combined brilliantly with winger Tommy Seymour once more to tear through the Cardiff Blues defence.
Seymour came off his wing to scythe through the midfield before providing a sublime offload for the onrushing Horne to collect and run in unopposed.
PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND
Glasgow Warriors remained top in the GUINNESS PRO12 with a resounding victory over Cardiff Blues thanks to 24 points from Peter Horne, including a stunning first-half hat-trick.
The versatile playmaker finished two fluent attacking moves in style before breaking through from close range to complete his treble, fully deserving his standing ovation from the Scotstoun ground when he was replaced after the break.
