Not that Warburton is short of motivation himself as he prepares for an intriguing battle with fellow Wales international flanker Justin Tipuric at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.
And with that clash just one of many key encounters, McIntosh admits his side are determined to claim derby bragging rights over an Ospreys side in pursuit of a GUINNESS PRO12 semi-final spot.
"I am excited because I have so much respect for the two players," McIntosh told Wales Online.
"Sam actually piped up in training because we didn't start the session as we wanted to. Sam had a few stern words and that's not like him.
"That shows the respect, not only to Justin Tipuric but also the Ospreys team who are playing well.
"It's a great opportunity for players who are trying to get in the mix for Wales.
"We understand to get anywhere near them we have to raise our game and get up to sixth gear. We have not got anywhere near there this season.
"It is a great challenge. It's an opportunity for us to try and pull something back for the season and give our supporters something to cheer and smile about."
