Toby Faletau, Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan are the only Dragons away with Wales at present as the region build towards their opening GUINNESS PRO12 fixture with Connacht at the The Sportsground, in Galway, on Friday, September 4.
Speaking from the season launch in London, Thomas said: "We haven't got many away with the Welsh camp but to flip that on the other side, that is where we want all our youngsters to be.
"So we have got strength in depth here [at the start of the season] and it is mainly because we haven't lost many but I'm sure in the future we will address that because our youngsters will be up there [challenging for a place in the Wales team]."
Thomas can't wait for the new season to begin and has stressed the importance of a fast start for the Dragons, having won just one of their opening nine GUINNESS PRO12 games last season.
The region ended up finishing ninth and Thomas says the club have changed the way they approached this season as they look to secure a top six finish and European Champions Cup rugby.
Thomas said: "We haven't spoken about aims for this season. We went down that route last season and every year we do the same but there has been a realisation that we need to be in the top six of the league without sitting down and putting it on a board.
"With the quality we have in the room, that is the way we are looking.
"In every year you want a fast start and when you look at last year's fixtures, Connacht away [when Newport lost 16-11 on the opening weekend] was a fixture we should have won and then it was a slippery slope.
"So it is common sense but if we perform then the results will look after themselves.
"If we keep the error count down, and other things we can control, then I'm sure we will be fine."
