But while having the majority of the possession and territorial advantage, it was a far from flowing performance from the Dragons who struggled to break down the Italian side's defence.
This included failing to add to their half-time score in the second 40 minutes although Jackson admitted they always expected a tough encounter with their opponents, who were coming off the back of a 61-13 defeat to Cardiff Blues last time out.
"We knew it was going to be a tough ask because they would have been disappointed with the way they finished against Cardiff last weekend," he said.
"Inevitably there's going to be a bounce back from that and we felt that.
"But we got the win at home and at the end it showed we've got the ability to close the game out which is important in this league.
"There were a lot of unforced errors which is something we're going to have to clean up going forwards because we're not going to come up on the right side of the result this season if we keep making that many errors. Hopefully if we brush up on that, we can keep the ball going."
