Tandy's side have made a tentative start to the GUINNESS PRO12 season, sitting eighth in the table through nine rounds.
However, the Welsh region are familiar with the end-of-season play-offs while the likes of fly-half Dan Biggar and lock Alun Wyn Jones boast experience at the highest level.
And the boss believes that is a crucial ingredient in getting the better of your local rivals.
"A lot of our guys have played international rugby and know where their minds need to be in these games," he told Wales Online.
"You know if you are not on the money in these games they will come back to bite you and you won't get what you need. It's about performance.
"It's not just focusing on winning the game without understanding how to do it.
"If you do that you won't get what you want. We look to get better in every training session and we look at the detail of how we perform.
"I have no doubt the boys will be fired up on Saturday."
