Fly-half Jones left the field at the Liberty Stadium during the first half and further inspection has revealed a chest muscle injury, which will keep him out of action for several months.
Jones went into the Ospreys game as the most accurate place kicker in the GUINNESS PRO12 this season and Dragons director of rugby Lyn Jones admits his loss is a real blow.
"Dorian has had a pectoral injury, which looks quite serious," said Jones
"It could be a few months, which is a blow to us because he's right on top of his game, starting to challenge for national honours behind Dan Biggar."
That frustration was compounded by the fact scrum-half Sarel Pretorius also left the field injured, but Jones does have some important players to welcome back into the fold soon.
Wales international backs Hallam Amos and Tyler Morgan are both on the comeback trail, following injuries sustained at the Rugby World Cup.
"They are big-time players who can offer something different," added Jones.
"They've made really good progress and the medical department need to be congratulated for getting them back with such speed.
"They've recovered very well and we expected both of them to be playing some part in the European competition shortly."
