Just 50 seconds into the match at Rodney Parade, the 21-year-old gave the GUINNESS PRO12 side the perfect start as he rounded off a well-worked move by dotting down and setting Newport on their way to a 31-18 win.
That victory puts the Welsh side in control of Pool 2 of the European Rugby Challenge Cup and in line for a home quarter-final if they can beat Sale Sharks on Thursday.
And while Amos acknowledges that he was struggling for fitness as the match wore on, he insists the early try was stuff that dreams are made of.
"You think about it the night before and that's exactly what you want," said Amos. "It was a great break by Sarel [Pretorius] and a lovely ball by Jason Tovey.
"In rugby you will pick up injuries, though it's been tough watching the boys. But I can't ask for much more than that with my first touch back after three months.
"I was always aiming to be back around this time and I'm back a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, which is good.
"You can do all the fitness and training you want, but nothing prepares you for the match.
"I remember looking up at the clock and only seven minutes had gone and I was wondering if I was going to be able to make half time!
"But it's great to be back out there and the more game-time you get, the easier it will be become."
