But it was the performance of two young guns that really caught Wilson's attention with prop Brad Thyer and scrum-half Tomos Williams both starting a GUINNESS PRO12 game for the first time in Cardiff Blues colours.
Academy product Thyer was part of a powerful pack performance from the forwards, while former Wales Under-20s ace Williams added spark to the back line.
"I was really pleased for Brad (Thyer)," Wilson told the club's official website. "He played 70 minutes on the loosehead side and as a young lad, the way he performed was excellent.
"Scrum dominance was a big part of the game and we got some penalties with both front rows going well.
"Tomos (Williams) had a good game as well. He got our rugby going and brought some real tempo to us.
"Overall he had a great full debut and it's great for both players to be handed a first senior start and help secure a win."
