The 24-year-old's performances led to 14 caps for Wales and he was on a dual contract with the national team until this year.
Jones earned his first Wales cap in 18 months against England in May and he is hoping to earn even more with a string of fine displays in the Guinness PRO12.
"If I am doing well - starting or being involved - then I will be in a good position [for an international call-up] and that is what I want to be doing," Jones told Ospreys TV.
"There is a lot of competition [at Ospreys] and that is good. Everyone is going to be spurring each other on.
"If I am playing well then I will be putting pressure on them to play well and vice-versa so it is good.
"It will produce a competitive environment and that is what everyone needs."
Jones made his Scarlets debut as a replacement in the Heineken Cup in October 2010 and received his first international call-up in November 2011, making his Wales debut against the Barbarians the following June.
Injury hampered his 2015 and resulted in Jones missing the Rugby World Cup in 2015, only returning to action in December.
Prop Jones, who has been converted from a loosehead into a tighthead, said: "Ospreys are a big club so that was a positive aspect of the move and my aim is to play as much rugby as I can because over the last two or three years I have not played a lot of rugby.
"Hopefully I will be able to get my head down, work hard and get a few games.
"I can't wait for the Guinness PRO12. It won't be long until it is upon us so we all need to get fit quickly."
