However, Connacht - who have now won three consecutive games in all competitions - responded with Tiernan O'Halloran and Bundee Aki tries, as well as shutting the French side out in the second half.
Craig Ronaldson made the crucial conversion to Aki's try to secure a 23-21 victory - and Muldoon believes that when on form, his side should never be counted out, no matter the odds.
"We started the season slow and we've made mistakes," the back-rower told the42.ie. "We made mistakes again, but there's belief in the squad. There's belief that we can turn around scores.
"It was a different scenario to last week [against Ulster] when we went in 12 points up or whatever it was. This week we did it the other way around. Down ten points and then came back.
"When you've got players on your team with speed and handling skills, you always believe you'll score a try.
"Thankfully we've got them in abundance and everyone has key roles, and they're performing quite well."
