"I had the opportunity to stay in France with a new Top 14 club, but I decided to return in Viadana because I have a deep connection with the city and because I wanted to join a serious and structured club that is looking to improve and has a long term plan in which I want to be a main character", said Masi.
Masi, 30, can play at fullback or centre and brings to Aironi his International experience with 60 caps and 13 tries scored for Italy.
After the World Cup (New Zealand 2011 will be the third of his career) Masi will join Aironi in the new RaboDirect PRO12 to help the Italian side to improve.
"I will bring all my experience to help Aironi reaching this target. I had a similar experience when I joined Racing-Metro - they were a ProD2 team with a long road to go, even if with a lot of ambition. We go through this to bring Racing to the top level both in France and Europe. Also Aironi have great room for improvement and I will give my all in order to realise it".
"I have met with President Melegari and Director of Rugby Franco Tonni. Everyone is very excited and the club has great ideas and projects for the future. It makes me really happy for my choice".
Director of Rugby Franco Tonni welcomed back Masi: "When I met Andrea a couple of days ago I immediately remembered eight years ago when he joined Viadana from L'Aquila. The high level of his rugby vision and professionalism which comes from his experience with Biarritz and Racing will be crucial for the side. Andrea will be a central part of the Aironi project in the years to come".
