Cuthbert, who has made 20 appearances in the RaboDirect PRO12 this season, joins a squad that finished fourth in the Glasgow leg last weekend and his inclusion is one of seven changes made by head coach Stephen Gemmell.
Gemmell said: "I made it clear to all the players involved during this fortnight that these two tournaments were important in their own right, but also for selection for the Commonwealth Games.
"I'm delighted by the support that Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors have given me, but I now want to take the opportunity to look at James [Fleming] and Struan [Dewar], among others who have trained well and deserve a chance to show what they can do on the international stage.
"Our performance at the weekend will raise the expectation on the players coming in, but they know our structures and game plans and this is their chance to rise to the occasion and perform.
"Jack [Cuthbert], he is a player I believe can add value to our squad. He is a strong and powerful runner, with a good skill-set and has played well this year for Edinburgh Rugby."
