Glasgow Warriors sent out a message of intent ahead of the RaboDirect PRO12 play-offs as they ran out 54-0 winners over Zebre in the final round, confirming a home semi-final in the process.
The Warriors recorded their eighth straight victory at home to the Italians as Nikola Matawalu and Stuart Hogg both crossed twice to leave them second in the table.
Alex Dunbar, Al Kellock, Ryan Grant, Geoff Cross also dotted down with Duncan Weir contributing six conversions to ensure a first ever home semi-final for Gregor Townsend's men.
They will play Munster next Friday after the Irish side lost out to rivals Ulster 19-17 at Thomond Park.
Tied 10-10 at half time - Munster's Duncan Williams trading tries with Michael Heaney, Ulster fly-half James McKinney made the difference kicking 14 points in total for his side.
Despite the win, Ulster remained in the fourth and final play-off spot, meaning they face an away trip to reigning champions Leinster - themselves narrow 15-13 winners over Edinburgh.
Tries from Jordi Murphy and Dave Kearney did the trick, coupled with the boot of Jimmy Gopperth but it was far from plain sailing, with Tim Visser's late try for the visitors - who finish the season in eighth - making for a tense finish.
Ospreys had already missed out on a play-off spot ahead of Saturday's final round of fixtures but rounded off the season in convincing style with a 45-20 win over Connacht.
Six tries for the home side, including two for Ashley Beck, and a man-of-the-match performance from Sam Lewis sealed the win to leave them fifth while Connacht dropped to tenth.
Elsewhere, Jason Tovey's late penalty on his 100th start for Newport Gwent Dragons took a dramatic 20-19 victory over Benetton Treviso - although the Italians still managed to leapfrog Zebre into 11th spot.
And Scarlets, sixth in the table, won the all-Welsh affair at Parc Y Scarlets with Steve Shingler contributing 12 points, including a late try, to see off Cardiff Blues.
TRY OF THE WEEKEND
Already five tries up inside the first 23 minutes against Zebre, confidence was clearly flowing through the Glasgow Warriors side.
And when they turned the ball over just outside their own 22, there was no stopping the Scots again on 31 minutes as Alex Dunbar kicked ahead for Stuart Hogg to race onto.
It proved to be more football than rugby as Hogg also kicked the ball towards the post, and while set for a hat-trick, teammate Nikola Matawalu showed an excellent turn of pace to win the foot race and touch down.
BREAK OF THE WEEKEND
Despite having only pride to play for, Edinburgh put in a spirited display against reigning champions Leinster with Tim Visser's late try setting things up for a tense finish.
Much of the credit has to go to Greig Laidlaw who spotted the gap in the Leinster line to dummy his way through and charge for the line from 40 yards out.
His perfectly weighted pass then played in Visser who was left with a straight forward run in under the posts, although the Scots were unable to force the winner.
PLAY OF THE WEEKEND
Much of the attention in the game at Parc y Scarlets was on Jonathan Davies' winning final appearance for the hosts.
But Cardiff Blues made sure to provide their own entertainment with a flicked one handed pass from Cory Allen.
Harry Robinson may have been too surprised to fully claim the pass but the ball made its way to Filo Paulo who then sprayed it out wide to Macauley Cook to dive over for his side's first try of the game.
PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND
With Saturday's game against Treviso bringing up a century of Newport Gwent Dragons' starts for Jason Tovey, the Welsh fly-half made sure to leave his mark.
With two conversions and a penalty already in the bag, he slotted over a late penalty to rescue a 20-19 win for his side to lift them up ninth in the final standings.
