Frustrated Visser after fresh start with Scotland

After topping the RaboDirect PRO12 try-scoring charts four years on the bounce, Visser managed just nine appearances in the competition this time around.

The 27-year-old scored four tries but a six-month absence, which ruled him out of every Scotland games since last summer, ensured he couldn't keep the run going.

But Visser enjoyed a spell in the Edinburgh side at the end of the season, dotting down against both eventual RaboDirect PRO12 Finalists Glasgow Warriors and Leinster, before joining up with Scotland.

Now with Vern Cotter at the helm, they kick off the summer by taking on USA in Houston on Saturday and the winger is looking to get back to his old habit.

"For me it is definitely a fresh start after being out so long," Visser told the Daily Record.

"With Vern coming in, he will be looking forward not backwards but that is something we would do anyway. We try to learn from our mistakes and move forward.

"He is really into intensity. The type of training we have been doing is short and intense - really hard work but that is brilliant because as a player you would rather be on the training paddock for a short time and the work to be harder.

"It has been really good. We have been doing a few drills and he has given me a few personal pointers already.

"He looks at all the video stuff and then afterwards will say something that can help me in the game, such as 'Don't turn your back on the ball carrier when you are running away from the ruck' or how to catch a ball better. I like that."
