A November breakthrough at the Blues saw the young flanker, and former Wales U20 star, make his bow in the first team and even come off the bench against the might of Toulon in Europe.
But injury has disrupted the start of this season and the 21-year-old has two appearances off the bench to his name in the GUINNESS PRO12 so far.
Now back and firing fit, Jenkins is desperate to prove his worth with a new director of rugby in Mark Hammett at the helm.
"This is the point of the season last year when I broke through and played my first game, it progressed from there," he said.
"This year I have had a couple of niggles, and a spell on the sidelines is always quite tough but I am back now and raring to go and challenge the guys.
"Last year I ended up coming on and playing against Toulon so the goal this year has to be to try and kick on and get back to that level."
It has been an indifferent start to the GUINNESS PRO12 for the Blues under Hammett, the Welsh region currently lie ninth in the table with one win from their first seven games.
But Jenkins insists that it is only a matter of time before the region find their feet.
"It's not been the sort of start to the season that we wanted," he added.
"We have had some very close games, Munster last weekend was a good example of that. We were left wondering how we have lost that game, we played well enough to put ourselves in position to win.
"We are not miles and miles off, we are dominating teams for long periods, it's about doing the little things right.
"We are bringing in new things with a new coach, a new style of play, we know that it is going to take time to take effect."
