Edinburgh exacted 1872 Cup revenge on Glasgow Warriors, overturning a first-leg deficit courtesy of two Tim Visser tries at BT Murrayfield.
After suffering a 16-6 defeat to their Scottish rivals at Scotstoun six days earlier, Alan Solomons' side flew out the blocks in front of more than 15,000 supporters, Visser dotting down twice before the break.
Niko Matawalu closed the aggregate gap to just two points with his second-half try but Edinburgh held on to win 20-8 on the night and 26-24 across the two legs, collecting the coveted silverware.
Connacht produced a superb display at the Sportsground to deny Munster top spot, as Kieran Marmion, Craig Ronaldson and Aly Muldowney each crossed the whitewash.
Peter O'Mahony had scored for Munster early on but man-of-the-match Robbie Henshaw and centre partner Bundee Aki continued their promising partnership as Connacht ran out 24-16 winners.
Another all-Irish clash saw reigning GUINNESS PRO12 champions Leinster ensure Ulster's disappointing away record goes on.
Ian Madigan collected 19 points - a Jack Conan try completing the scoring - as Leinster won 24-11 at the RDS to leapfrog their visitors into the top four.
Benetton Treviso completed a league double over their Italian rivals Zebre, adding to victory in Parma with a 17-15 triumph in front of their home support.
With two tries apiece it was the boot of Jayden Hayward that decided the contest, the 27-year-old Kiwi slotting both conversions and a penalty to secure four points for his side.
Scarlets made amends for last weekend's narrow defeat at the Liberty Stadium by beating the Ospreys 22-10 in Saturday's return fixture.
Four penalties from man of the match Rhys Priestland and tries for John Barclay and Liam Williams ensured the GUINNESS PRO12 leaders left Parc y Scarlets empty handed.
And Cardiff Blues pinched a tight 11-9 victory at Newport Gwent Dragons on Thursday, the impressive Gareth Anscombe improving on Cory Allen's try and adding a penalty to secure the result.
TRY OF THE WEEKEND
After a slow start at the Sportsground, Connacht went in search of a moment of magic to spark them into life and kick-start the fightback - and they found it after half an hour.
Craig Ronaldson's chip forward was perfectly weighted for the onrushing Henshaw, who collected the ball in his stride and powered his way between two Munster defenders.
With just one man left to beat, scrum-half Marmion appeared on his shoulder and the Ireland centre timed his offload exquisitely to send his teammate flying over the line.
BREAK OF THE WEEKEND
With ten minutes left of Saturday's Italian derby and just two points in it, Treviso scrum-half Edoardo Gori took matters into his own hands in search of an important result.
The Italian international, who started the game on the bench, collected the ball from the back of a ruck 40 metres from the Zebre try line.
And after drifting to his left, Gori made his way for that line, sniping through a gap and leaving last man Kelly Haimona for dead with a neat sidestep.
PLAY OF THE WEEKEND
Well behind at the break at BT Murrayfield, it was scrum-half Matawalu who gave Glasgow Warriors hope of retaining the 1872 Cup with a brilliant piece of individual skill.
The Fijian snuck around the blindside of a maul on the Edinburgh 22 and sent an outside-of-the-boot chip kick down the touchline and into the try area.
Full-back Peter Murchie was on hand to sweep up the danger but he was caught unaware as livewire Matawalu nipped around him and stretched out to his arm to score.
PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND
Matawalu may have caught the eye after the break, but the first half in Edinburgh belonged to Tim Visser.
The Scotland winger - a four-time PRO12 top try-scorer - was at his clinical best, first picking a great line between two Glasgow defenders to score the game's first try.
And he soon doubled his tally, showing great anticipation to intercept a loose pass deep inside his own half and springing clear to put Edinburgh in the driving seat.
