Hallam Amos and the uncapped Tyler Morgan have been included in Gatland's 32-man squad for RBS 6 Nations, which kicks off next month.
Forward Taulupe Faletau is the other representative from a Dragons side that have found life in GUINNESS PRO12 tough at times this term.
They sit tenth in the table with three wins to their name this season, though have been pulling up trees in Europe with notable victories against Newcastle Falcons and Stade Francais.
And Gatland believes the efforts of Amos, 20, and 19-year-old Morgan point to a bright future at Rodney Parade.
"Both of those players have impressed us and they had very good performances for the Dragons against Newcastle," said Gatland.
"I also thought the Dragons played quite well against the Ospreys and I was looking at their team thinking that's potentially the makings of a good side, particularly in a year or two with the talent in that back line.
"Tyler will come in with us initially and then we will release him to the Under-20s for a few games. We see a huge amount of talent in him, while Hallam has continued to develop and does cover wing and full-back and is a left-foot option.
"He is only improving and there are a couple of other players in that Dragons side that we are keeping a close eye on in Jack Dixon and Tom Prydie."
