The Dragons, who rose to ninth in the league table after picking up a bonus point in defeat to Connacht last week, jet to Italy bidding to avoid a first-ever defeat to the GUINNESS PRO12's bottom club.
And, despite Zebre's struggles this year, Jones knows where the danger lies.
"Zebre are a strong, physical team but will put the ball in the air a lot as well. We have got to be secure and safe under those high balls," he told the South Wales Argus.
"It's a real art for the back three and we work on taking those high balls a lot in training.
"That aerial battle, with defences being so good, is important and hopefully we will keep improving in that area."
Jones is set to make his 14th appearance of the season for the men of Gwent at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi.
But, with his switch from Sevens rugby still relatively recent, Jones is taking nothing for granted.
"Anyone who gets a chance in the starting XV has been taking them and you know you have got to be on top of your game," he added.
"I've got a few games under my belt this season and I'm looking to build on those performances to keep my place in the team."
