Ulster's 13-10 victory over Connacht earlier in round 11 was their only win over a fellow Irish province in their last four attempts, but Pat Lam's men have beaten then just once since 2005.
Ian Humphreys will be hoping for some game-time this weekend, with the 32-year-old fly-half needing just seven more points to join the GUINNESS PRO12 500-club.
League leaders Glasgow Warriors - who have been defeated just once in their last six GUINNESS PRO12 encounters - welcome the Cardiff Blues to Scotstoun.
The Warriors have topped the table for just five of the 18 rounds so far, but a win over Cardiff will see them enjoy their longest spell at the summit.
The form guide does not favour the Blues, who have lost their last two matches in all competitions and are without a victory outside of Wales since they beat Zebre in round 1.
And Glasgow's James Eddie is still waiting to reach his 100th appearance in the GUINNESS PRO12, but will bring up his ton if he plays this weekend having sat out the last couple of weeks.
Leinster's fate is out of their own hands as they reach the business end of the season, with the men in blue four points adrift of the top four.
They travel to an in-form Newport Gwent Dragons side who have won three on the bounce and rediscovered some form at Rodney Parade - ending a run of five home losses to Irish sides in round 17 against Ulster.
Matt O'Connor's side have won just once away from home in the GUINNESS PRO12 since October, and that will have to change if they are to mount an attack on the play-off spots.
The Dragons beat Leinster at the RDS in round 14 and have never before achieved a PRO12 season's double over the Irishmen; but Leinster have won on their last four visits to Newport.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh will be hoping to recreate their opening-round 14-13 victory over Munster - a result that ended a round of five successive defeats to Anthony Foley's side.
Munster have not failed to score a try in their last 23 GUINNESS PRO12 fixtures and are unbeaten in six in the league, but Edinburgh are in form themselves after three wins on the bounce in all competitions.
Fourth-placed Ospreys travel to Benetton Treviso, where they have lost just once in four PRO12 encounters.
They ran in five tries against the Italians in round 1, with Dan Biggar kicking 17 points.
And Zebre welcome Scarlets to Stadio Lanfranchi seeking their first ever GUINNESS PRO12 win over the Welsh outfit at the sixth time of asking.
Scarlets have registered four wins so far over the Italians, with the other match a 16-16 draw back in October 2013.
