Wales' task has got even harder after GUINNESS PRO12 quartet Samson Lee, Paul James, Dan Lydiate and Aaron Jarvis all picked up injuries at the weekend, with Jonathan Davies, Leigh Halfpenny and Rhys Webb ruled out before the tournament began.
Ball played 80 minutes of Wales' opening 54-9 victory over Uruguay at the weekend, but with England now on the horizon at Twickenham on Saturday, he insists Warren Gatland's side are heading to London to show they are not a spent force at this World Cup.
"I was chuffed with some of the work I put in with the pick-and-goes against Uruguay," he told the South Wales Argus. "I can only keep putting the work in and then it is up to the big man [Gatland] to make decisions.
"I have been asked before about selections. I will just have to play to my best ability and crack on from there.
"Last weekend was the biggest game in my career, my emotions were all over the place during the anthem. I didn't expect that, it shows how big an occasion it was.
"For me, from where I have come from over the last four years, it is fantastic to be here for Wales.
"I played at Twickenham a couple of years back, it is a tough place to go and play rugby, but what a great opportunity for Wales to go there and put a marker down in this World Cup."
