But Zebre refused to lie down and earned themselves a four-try losing bonus point as Johan Meyer, Federico Ruzza, Kelly Haimona and Dries van Schalkwyk all crossed the whitewash.
And Guidi felt his side couldn't have taken even more from this home clash.
"It was a good game, raw and ruthless as it should be for games at this level," he said.
"It clearly teaches us where we need to get our future work to in order to compete against opponents of this calibre.
"I told my players that this was a good performance, even if there were some mistakes at decisive moments.
"We played rugby with an interesting offensive game that saw us score four tries and we could have got two points."
Guidi saw Italy Under-20s player Matteo Panunzi make his Zebre debut off the bench and the head coach believes the future is bright for his side.
"I'm happy because the team has lived up to its philosophy with many young Italians who responded positively when called upon, proving they are able to stay in the GUINNESS PRO12," Guidi added.
"I applaud the debut of Panunzi, a guy who came right in and has proven to be a real prospect for this team.
"Against an opponent who physically has competed well on the field it was interesting to see on what players I can rely on for the future."
