Scotland winger Hoyland himself had a low-key start to the season, missing the first three games with a groin injury before returning in defeat to Munster at Thomond Park.
Pat Lam's side did the double over Edinburgh last season but are without a point from their opening three fixtures, and with the Scots winning two of their past four trips to Galway, Hoyland is feeling optimistic.
"I feel we have the right game plan to do a job on them. They haven't made the best of starts to the season either," he said.
"They will see it as an opportunity to win and win well at home, but we know what we have to do to beat them.
"It's been a frustrating start to the season and not the start I wanted, so I'm just buzzing to be back playing."
Tries for Chris Dean and John Hardie had given Edinburgh hope in their 28-14 loss to Munster and though Hoyland was left dejected after the loss in Limerick, he feels there is plenty to be positive about, even if they will be without Duncan Weir for an extended period after he suffered a fractured jaw in Limerick.
"Last week was frustrating because we left a lot out there. We should have scored more tries and the tries we gave away were quite soft," the two-cap Scotland back said.
"Going into this week we need to do what we did last week, but just take our chances and finish them and stay tight as a unit in defence.
"It's just taking our opportunities and identifying the opportunities we have created."
