Elsewhere the Dragons fought back to win away to the Zebre, but Treviso salvaged some Italian pride with a thumping win over Munster .
Finally Connacht ended a long winless run away from home with a thrilling win over the Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park.

TRY OF THE WEEKEND
With Gordon D'Arcy injured and Brian O'Driscoll on international duty, Leinster needed someone to step up in the centres. Andrew Goodman did just that, finishing off a wonderful team try for the Dubliners in a 32-5 success over the Scarlets.
Winger Fionn Carr kicked things off in the middle of the park, switching the play to the right where quick hands saw Dave Kearney get away. The full-back then showed his quick-thinking to pass the ball back inside to Goodman to cross.
BREAK OF THE WEEKEND
It was a difficult evening on Friday for Edinburgh as they slumped to defeat against the Ospreys but the one shining light came from a brilliantly-worked move that set up their try in the 24-7 defeat.
Their Fijian No.8 Netani Talei showed typical adventure as he launched a counter-attack with winger Dougie Fife cutting into the heart of the Ospreys defence. Eventually the ball was recycled and out on the left Hamish Watson showed his strength to slip through a couple of tackles and score.
PLAY OF THE WEEKEND
Nikola Matawalu has made a big impression since arriving at Glasgow and it was no different on Friday night at Scotstoun.
Up against Ruan Pienaar, Matawalu showed all his nous to pick the South African's pocket off the back of an Ulster scrum. He then produced a delightful pass out of the back of the hand to send Tommy Seymour over for one of four tries. The Fijian even got in on the try-scoring act in the closing stages to earn Glasgow a bonus point.
PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND
With their pack decimated by international call-ups, Treviso had to take a gamble for their match with Munster by playing their Japanese international centre Christian Loamanu in the back row.
Despite the unfamiliar role, Loamanu used all his size and power to great effect as he helped Treviso to a bonus-point success as they closed the gap on the team above them, Cardiff Blues, to just a point.
ONES TO WATCH
Connacht had not won away from home since September in the RaboDirect PRO12 but they ended that record in style thanks to the efforts of Willie Faloon. The former Ulster flanker scored twice at the Cardiff Arms Park .
The Ospreys No.8 Morgan Allen was another to grab a brace, showing all his strength to crash over twice. With the Liberty Stadium outfit in need of a win to maintain their challenge for a top-four spot, Allen pounced off the back of two powerful drives in their success over Edinburgh.
Stuart Hogg has been impressing at full-back for Scotland but his Glasgow Warriors teammate Peter Murchie ensured that Gregor Townsend would not have to worry about his absence. One of the revelations of the season, Murchie notched up his fourth try of the campaign against Ulster.
