Connacht have now won two home games on the spin in the RaboDirect PRO12, but have lost the last six league clashes away from the Galway Sportsground - a run dating back to the 30-7 triumph over Zebre in September.
And if they are have any chance of putting an end to that unwanted statistic at the Cardiff Arms Park this Friday Elwood believes they need to tap into their Ospreys performance.
"We need the same level of intensity and the same discipline as we showed against Ospreys last weekend," Elwood told the Galway Advertiser.
"If we can back it up and reproduce that form in Wales, I am confident.
"We showed last week what we are capable of. Our defence was excellent, our attack was good, and we need to play with that same intensity, while also keeping our discipline, to have a chance."
