But Kellock, who will lead his side out against the Blues in the Heineken Cup again on Friday night, believes they can regain their top form over the festive period.
However the 32-year-old did acknowledge that other sides may have taken note of their impressive season last year and upped their game.
"It's a different psychology, the second season," he told The Scotsman. "I've been involved in it before when we've done reasonably well and then, the next year, teams have an eye on you. So we do different things, make sure we highlight different areas.
"But there is no element of complacency in the squad. What there is, is the knowledge that we have the ability, so frustration maybe kicks in.
"What I say every week is that we go back to our foundations, which are hard work, aggression, accuracy and a physical edge. If one of those is missing, then we won't win games because teams know what we can do."
