Lam's men recently took a break from league duties when they completed their European Cup Pool 3 double header against Toulouse.
They recorded a historic 16-14 win over the four-times champions in France before losing 37-9 last weekend - a game that also came at a cost with fly-half Craig Ronaldson picking up a hamstring injury.
Attention now switches back to the RaboDirect PRO12 and a home game against Newport Gwent Dragons on Saturday.
But with no league win in eight matches, Lam believes a full 80 minute performance will go some way to reversing their fortunes.
"We have to move into the Rabo season again now and we want to get off the bottom of the table," Lam told the Irish Independent.
"But we cannot focus on that, we have to get our game and our heart right. If they are okay, hopefully results will follow.
"Craig Ronaldson is now gone for four weeks, but someone else has to step in.
"He pulled it pretty bad, we expect he'll be out for about four weeks.
"Craig Clarke took a haematoma to his leg, but having the extra day off will certainly help him. We are confident he will be right."
