Fine margins between winning and losing says Thomas

With two narrow victories over Edinburgh last season, and an away victory at Murrayfield this season, already secured the Scarlets will be keen to make it four from four against the Scottish side.

Thomas, who has 60 appearances for the Scarlets and 236 points, played in the last three fixtures against Edinburgh scoring six points apiece in both home and away victories in 2012-13 (28-29 26th October 2012 in Murrayfield and 14-13 on 1st March 2013 in Parc y Scarlets).

The 29 year old fly half said: "Edinburgh are a good team and a good outfit. We have to make sure that everything in our control is done to a high level. The win, and six tries, against Treviso was a massive confidence booster for us as a squad."

With nine games remaining in the RaboDirect PRO12 season, and six home games, Thomas insists that the Scarlets have it all to play for to make the play-offs, he said: "It's frustrating to not be involved all the time but I have to set a marker for myself and work hard during this period to try and give the team the best possible chance of winning."

"There'd be no point in us carrying on with the rest of the season if we weren't realistically targeting the top four. Anything is possible and if we get on a good winning streak there's no reason why we can't make it."

Having missed out on narrow victories at home Thomas states that the Scarlets understand the work that's still ahead of them; "We have a lot of home games still to come and we have to work hard to achieve our goal."

"We've been just on the wrong side of scorelines on a couple of occasions and we need a little more consistency."

"They are fine margins that we're working with, we're all working hard to get that consistency into our game and get those margins moving in our favour."

Scarlets take on Edinburgh this afternoon, kick-off 2.30pm, at Parc y Scarlets.
