Edinburgh finished a disappointing eighth last term, and the likes of Nick De Luca, Ben Atiga, Lee Jones, Piers Francis, Izak van der Westhuizen and Sean Cox have left.
On top of that Edinburgh will be without the likes of Geoff Cross, Greig Laidlaw and Ross Rennie next season as Solomons rebuilds for the 2014/15 campaign.
But that hasn't deterred the South African's ambition, with a place at Europe's top table firmly in his sights.
"There comes a time where people move on in their careers. That just happens," he told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"That is the way it works. I'm happy with what we have done in terms of recruitment and that's no reflection on any individuals. In the broadest sense we have greater strength in depth.
"The most important thing for us is to secure a top-six finish in the GUINNESS PRO12. We still want to be at the top table of European rugby. That is something we have to focus on."
