This time last November, rising star Olding was told that he'd miss the rest of the season after sustaining a serious injury to his right knee.
But the youngster was back fighting fit for the start of the GUINNESS PRO12 and that was no better illustrated than through his try-double in victory over Newport Gwent Dragons last weekend.
The utility back has been rewarded with an Ireland call-up - looking to add to his sole cap against the USA last year - and he insists that for now any position on the pitch will do.
"It was good out there," said Olding. "It was good to get game time as I haven't played much this season.
"When I heard that I was going to be released for the (Dragons) game, I was really delighted. I was happy to play full-back, indeed happy just to be playing some rugby.
"I certainly enjoyed that game at full-back. Before the match it was bucketing down and that made me a little nervous, but once I got on the field, I thought the team in general played the conditions very well.
"If you are down as a utility back you are not really a specialist, but at my age I think it is good to be playing in these positions as it gives you a perspective across the pitch."
