Winger Tom Brown comes in to the starting XV as Tim Visser is rested. In the pack, Ross Ford returns from injury as well as Anton Bresler who has recovered from the ear infection that kept him out of the Treviso match. Meanwhile another of the casualties of Edinburgh's October European Cup win over Lyon, Phil Burleigh, returns to the 23 where he's named on the bench.
Retaining his berth from last week, Dougie Fife will lead the team out as he celebrates his 50th cap for the club. The 24-year-old Firrhill High School former pupil, a product of the Currie and Boroughmuir clubs, made his Edinburgh Rugby debut in 2011 and won his first Scotland cap against Wales in this year's RBS 6 Nations.
Solomons said: "The 1872 Cup fixture is rich in history and tradition. We all appreciate the privilege of being involved in such a match and are determined to do justice to the occasion."
Although Saturday's match at Scotstoun is sold out, tickets remain for the deciding leg of the derby, on 2 January at BT Murrayfield (k/o 7.35pm). Adult prices start at £20 while concessions are £10 andunder-18s are just £1. Go to www.edinburghrugby.org
Teams will wear black armbands and a minute's silence will be observed prior to kick-off, for reflection on this week's tragic events in Glasgow City Centre.
